Description
The ACJJ's original stated purposes are "to encourage and assist ... government in the comprehensive improvement of juvenile justice and the reduction of serious crime and juvenile delinquency in the State;" to "provide advice and counsel to the Governor ...;" and to "establish policy and provide general oversight and supervision over ... the Comprehensive Juvenile Plan for the State ..." Its commitments are: To prevent young people from making life choices that might encourage them to become adult criminals; and to strengthen the effectiveness of juvenile justice.
