Dekalb County Juvenile Court - Teen Court

4309 Memorial Drive
Decatur, GA, 30032

Teen Court is a DeKalb County program designed to give a second chance to ‘first time offenders’. Youth with misdemeanor offenses are held accountable through sentencing involving their peers. The purpose of the court is to provide a community based alternative to the formal court process. Our goal is to transform first time offenders into last time offenders. Student volunteers are selected from local high schools and assume actual roles of the Judge, Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, Bailiff, and Probation Officer. Students strictly uphold the Oath of Confidentiality, attend all court trainings, and adhere to DeKalb Juvenile Court policies and procedures. Teen Court participation is well received on college applications, job interviews and internship candidacies. For additional information and inquiry, contact Daryl W. Edwards at 404-294-2477.
